we've had big, soft, beautiful flaky snow falling all morning - ten centimetres sitting on everything. would have been great 2 months ago, but all i can see is snow burn and death for all the new growth in the garden. the aviary roof is totally covered, flight section and all - the birds are a bit flummoxed by it all. grr!!

Snowing here too , I love it.
I give my finches additional carbohydrates like roll oats and extra mealworms on days like today.
And 90% of the aviary is covered back up again.

It looks nice, but I don;t want to swap my nice low to mid 30's temps of the last few days.

We are getting smashed here at Ulladulla,in a 24 hour period we have had 290mm of rain and winds up to 100km and still coming. I have had about 20 little red brows going into one of my old reptile enclosures(doors open, how convenient lol)just to get cover, poor little things at least they will be warm and dry in there.

Getting wind and rain on this side of the country too. But only down to 25 degrees thank goodness. Best of luck to you all.

Hi dal, I'm in Katoomba - what a crazy day Friday was! It was like a nature doco when they show sped-up seasons! Snow falls, all white, snow thaws, grass appears...

It was a tough day for wild birds too - a day that reminds me of what an important job responsible bird keepers do. I'm sure my finches were quite glad to be under cover with food available. You could see the wil birds go into a frenzy of food collecting and eating after the rain stopped.
