Hello to all.
I live in suburban Melbourne and love all birds. After some years breeding various species, I have decided that I probably appreciate the label "finch lover" most of all !!!
I have been involved in aviculture for a long time but don't consider myself very knowledgable.I tend to be a "Jack of all trades" !
I am retiring soon and intend to spend my next phase of life breeding birds for my children and future generations.
I have also been involved in clubs and felt my efforts in admin was also a contribution to our hoby's future.
Anyway, I find the range of topics amazing !!!
Since I am soon to embark on building an aviary complex and birdroom from scratch, I thought I might like to start a thread on housing. We'll see.
Best wishes.
Tom

Welcome to the forum. You will find when you retire, how you ever had time to go to work. Happy aviary building.

Welcome :D love your username - my favourite finch family!
I've been here for nearly 3 years now, and still learn at least three new things before breakfast from the group here. It's by far the best finch forum on the web, better perhaps because the info is so applicable. It's hard to transform and use a lot of the stuff on the american and British forums.
I think I'll die before my account is deactivated

I should clarify something. I have kept birds and been an actice club member for some forty years. Unfortunately, I do not have many birds at present because I am renting until I can retire in about ten months when I will go mad!!!!
I have kept birds for all of these forty years but my aviary population has varied greatly due to personal circumstances. At present, I keep only 5 finches and 4 lorikeets.
This WILL change! It is frustrating and ,frankly, disheartening to be restricted as I am but we persevere!!! :)
