Is this just one finch or have you have more than one? Any pics of this foot?
If it was just one bird, check to make sure nothing is fastened around the foot, cotton or coconut fibre, something like that. Once the foot has become swollen you would have to look carefully to see if something was round the leg.

If it is more than one finch then my first reaction would be to take out all the branches and perches and replace with new. I would probably clean walls with hot water with a bit of bleach added, and replace anything on the floor too.

I used to have this happen to one of my zebra finch hens 3-4 years ago, my first thought was something was tangled around her leg... but nothing there  It eventually went away and she went on to raise numerous amounts of babies
Can't help you, just do what bluebutterfly said

Hi Ulysises,

I have the same problem as you with my Stars and Cordons.I would like to know the answer too.

Could it be to do with moisture in the air or dampness on aviary floor.I try not let the birds spill water on aviary floor.

Thanks

Sometimes it's due to mosquito bits, they attack the birds at night and they particually like canary type birds but can attack finches as well. Craig

Thanks for the replies,it's not mozzies or something wrapped around the foot, have the bird at the vet at moment, will post results when i get them,it has happened to finches & soft bills.
