Hi guys,
I have a zebbie with an unusual lump behind his hip. It seems to have burst, so it appears as a raised crater. There was some blood on the cage, and some dried blood on his feathers, but the crater itself is clear of blood or pus. I cleaned it with R-Iodine, and it has dried up, and looks 'healthy' (well, as healthy as a lump can look). I noticed the lump on Friday, and a vet nurse friend of mine had a look at on Saturday. It is a hard lump, and did not leak blood or pus when squeezed, and the bird did not appear overly distressed when I cleaned it.
Is there anything else I should do? He is behaving normally (still nest building!), and seems otherwise healthy. I have some baytril, and have been tossing up about whether to give him some in his water (is it necessary?). My only concern is that he is in a breeding cage with his mate, and I would prefer that she not get any.
If anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated.

Could it have been a feather cyst? How big is it? So many things it could be :(

My vet nurse friend said it was unlikely to be a feather cyst, due to the placement of it. I'll try and take some pics tomorrow.
