I just have a question re the tri colours nesting....

Do they wait until the clutch is laid before the hen begins sitting or does she sit straight after the first egg??

I have noticed 3 eggs in the nest but the hen doesn't sit on them.

Now I have noticed that she will not leave the nest even when I enter to change the food or whatever ( a good thing I think).

I have them in a half nest box which is jammed up with feathers.

Any advice?

Thanks

Most pairs incubate when the full clutch is laid. Both sexes should incubate alternately.

there doing fine, dont inspect the nest, now you have to wait and listen for some feeding noises in about 21 days.

Perfect!!

I keep well away and never do nest inspections on any other species than zebs and canaries.

The only annoyance is me cleaning the aviary but I might scale this back a little.
