Thank you for the warm reception. Especially for you friend Lourenço is always good to see fellow here. One doubts, you guys always speak of the species in English? Do not use Latin?

we do at times use latin , as some of the finches we keep here in Australia can have a differant name from the east coast to the west.
The eastern side of the country like to give birds weird names, for example an african fire finch in the west is know as a ruddy in the east... pete

Like Pete says. Mostly common names/english with the occassional explaination/latin to undo confusion as to which bird we are talking about. Then there is the fact that not all birds are available in all locations. Different licencing and no importing.

He had not the slightest idea that within the same country the birds had different names ... So it would not be easier to treat the Latin name? Let me get this straight, can have birds in a region, but in another no longer can?

Different licencing laws in different states and some birds that are OK in one state are banned in another state. Sometimes because of threats to crops, sometimes for reasons we can't figure out. It's a big country, that would fit an awful lot of Europe in just one state. e.g. It is 500kms from where I live to the capital city of my state (WA)
