Well the new suspended aviary is finished and the first tenants have been moved in (Red Emblema pair) still waiting on leg rings to arrive b4 the others go in .
And as luck would have it the weather turned wet and cold just b4 sundown and in usual form the Emblemas are sitting on the floor with that spaced out look on their faces.
Surely they arent silly enough to sit there all night when there are nest boxes and roosts up high ?
Fingers crossed that in the morning there will be 2 little birds happily enjoying their bigger home. :!:

The double bars and yellow emblemas were all leg rung and put into the aviary today , bloody d/bars spent the afternoon trying to remove the leg rings.
Emblemas just did the dumb blonde thing  They all seem happy and we will see how they go after another shocker of a night coming up so they just tell me ....another dust storm just hit daughters place in Cobar so looks to hit here very soon

Those dust storms on your side of the country look even worse than the ones I was driving through between Geraldton and Northampton (WA coast) about 18 months ago.
Had to go up and down the road weekly for 10 weeks for a job I was doing and you would pick your driving times according to the wind.

Hope the birds cope with it OK

They seem ok , 2 of the doublebars are a bit crusty around the face but I think thats more due to breeding season than anything anyway it is improving now they have more space and sunlight .
Apparantly birds lungs / hearts are designed to cope with dust / smoke to a point so hopefully they will cope with the dust storms better than us humans are.
At the moment they are occupied trying to get the leg rings off which has me worried as I thought they would have forgotten about them by now .
