They are very tolerant of nest inspections . When it looks a bit yucky I just lift the bubs into a small conatiner , change the shavings and pop them back in .
I do have on 1 pair that will dig out excess if I put too much back in so I like to check the discarded shavings just in case a bub has been tossed along with the excess ..so far no mishaps .

The are awesome little hygrometers and will regulate humidity with wet bellies several times a day in dry heat .
