I have an old bottle of Baycox and a new bottle of the same chemical (Toltrazuril) at the same strength from the same supplier, called just 'Toltrazuril'.

- The old Baycox/Toltrazuril dose is equivalent to 1ml per 2L.

- The new Toltrazuril dose is equivalent to 6ml per 2L.

i.e. The new dose is six times the old dose - pretty dramatic, and not something I want to get wrong. Does anyone know why the radical change, and what the dosing recommendations are these days for finches specifically?

(I will be asking the supplier tomorrow when they re-open, but hope to get quicker answers from you clever lot tonight.)

Just check the strength of the active ingredient.

West Finch, the product strengths are the same - 25mg/ml.

Craig that's reassuring, thanks. My old bottle of Baycox says 1ml/2L (=0.5ml/1L), but it also has an expiry of 03/2007! Shows how often I use it. (Kept in the fridge at least). The new bottle says 3ml/1L, like yours.

So I wonder if I've been under-dosing my quarantined birds for the past who knows how long, based on old dosage info. Never had a serious issue with Coccidia though, so either the low dose was effective way past its official date or I've been lucky for a long time!

I too have used the Baycox at 3ml per litre without any apparently harmful side affects.
