at the moment i have seven pairs of diamonds with young in the nest at around the 8 to 16 days of age. i had 4 x 8x4 sheets of plasterboard laying about in the garage so i cut them into 4x2's.
placed a selection of pavers on the iron/laserlight roof and then laid the plaster board strips on top.
pretty happy with that idea an you would be surprised how well it diverted the direct heat off the roof and dropped the inside aviary temp.
no good if it rains though but according the the forecast - not in the near future.
if you save one bird its money well spent.

Well we have been back over 35 and 80/85% humidity with overnight thunderstorms (just this weekend) but this morning feels like more of the same. So did go and do extra water flushing for the birds, they seem fine. And interestingly mother seems to be coping better than us bit younger people, she thinks it is due to the "Worfren?" (spelling) that she takes to thin her blood.

Trust me ..I have chronic pain and could easily spend some days in bed all day .

Birdkeeping is the best therapy ...it makes you have to and want to get moving in the morning and keeps me at least pretty busy all day with the hand rearing and cleaning .

The end of the day sitting back watching them is very relaxing and seeing beautiful healthy birds is rewarding ...
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.
