I would think that you could only get them to fight for a few months before and during the breeding season. These people would bet on flies climbing up the wall.
I have 7 cocks in an indoor aviary together with 8 hens now and there is no fighting at all. They are all in the middle of moulting.

That's unbelievable......i had a guy come around to pick up 2 crimson finch cocks and i told him to bring two carry boxes. He turned up with one and said 'she be jake mate they wont fight, there's no hen.I caught up the first one and put it in the box,the second one hardly had its head in the box and it was on,one bird on its back and the other belting the crap out of it so i had to lend him another box to get them home. This can be expected for crimsons but for canaries,i don't think so but a canary and a saffron finch together, that might be a different matter. lol seriously how desperate would you have to be to use canaries, interesting though a friend just asked on another forum about canary aggression, seems he has a pet mule that sizes him up every morning and gets quite agitated and aggressive.

I can't help but wonder if they strap little spurs to them...
I have some understanding of people who'll bet on anything; I love a punt but the numbers are very small and I do it very occasionally; I like playing cards, but again occasionally and with small numbers, or for the next round. On Sunday at work it was unusually quiet (it seems like everyone has gone to the coast) and I confess we ran a book on how high a ladies lipase (a blood test) would be; a prize of flowers or food to the closest guess.
But to my mind it takes a special kind of sicko to keep canaries for this purpose.
