I have a couple of gouldians in my flock that have white heads. Are they a specific type ??
I have added a pic of the 2 & a pied I breed last year, it has a white head with a streak of red in it.
I'm not up with mutations.
Gouldian ?

Misso is right, it's a BH which loses the black when it's Euro Yellow. However it's not SF or it would be light green, it's DF. and yes, it has a yellow beak which means its also genetically a yellow head being masked by the BH.

Very interesting bird loz,but to me it looks more like a half sider, not in sex but colour if that is possible,it seems to have black on one one side of its face with red on the other and most of the yellow is on its RHS. Craig

The one you has posted is a beauty Misso. Loz any chance of a front on of your pied? Have not seen anything like it and like to look from all angles. The 1st pic is indeed a Black headed sex linked Euro Yellow.

As head colour is sex linked, it could well be a half sider, that would also explain the yellow. Female "portion" of bird BH EY and male "portion" RH SFEY.crocnshas wrote:Very interesting bird loz,but to me it looks more like a half sider, not in sex but colour if that is possible,it seems to have black on one one side of its face with red on the other and most of the yellow is on its RHS.
