Well i'm sticking with the internal argument, have you seen what cuban finches can do to their offspring,it's not nice and it's all due to territory and their love life so the sweet little zebra finch is no different. It's survival of the fittest. Craig

Tend to agree with crocnshas. In a cage that size any aggressive intentions are magnified. Haven't seen cubans, but I know what a crimson can do in 6hrs.

Zebras attempting to slaughter each other in the dark? Really?! If that turns out to be true I'll eat...one of 'em! It doesn't hold true with anything I know about finches. It would have to be a psycho Zeb with night vision goggles :boggle:.

On the other hand, predators injuring and taking finches from cages at night is something I have extensive, prolonged, unwelcome experience with.

The OP could always set up a small night vision camera to watch what's going on there at night. I nearly resorted to that. These days they are quite cheap, thanks to eBay and China.

Kudos to Zebbies though - they are such tough cookies. That little bird may well make it.

Well the little batterd finch will be in my room for a long time, but she is doing really well in my opinion.

I guess the problem with setting up a night camera is i just dont know when they will attack, and also i dont know how long the video takes a video for type thing. i have one i could set up though.

I do not think it was butcher birds or mynahs as i have had experience with them years ago and they just outrite kill by decapitating!

I also find it difficult to grasp the concept of a predator only because i have lived where i do for 9 months now, and have had finches out there in cages for one reason or the other-like for quarantine or just because i have too many type thing and nothing has been attacked.
