I buy my seed in 20kg bags which most seems to come from the Eastern States and as such has been treated which
prevents it from sprouting.Do any WA members buy seed premixed or mix their own that will sprout and if so could
I have some contacts please.

Cheers Greg.

Curious to know why it is treated, certainly in such away that prevents it from sprouting, i don't know of any commercial seed mix over here that is treated such. I have always gone down the lines of the better and quicker the germination the fresher the seed is.

I think its due to trying to prevent certain weeds etc from getting into WA from other states here in Australia,

Hi Greg

Don't know if you below to WA Finch but there are two club members advertising their seed in the mag.

1. Tony te Wierink
22 Strawberry Drive, Seville Grove 6112
ph 04 034 66 922
or home 08 9399 4736

Than there are of course the numerous pet shops/ bird places
Bird Place in Welshpool, Swan Valley birds in Midland, Birds 'n all in Caversham, Birdworld in Belmont.

Just buy a small quantity of each individual seed you like for your bird and see if its germinates.

I got authority from NZ authorities to bring back some WA niger. Got it through Tony Tewierink. Nice and clean and locally (Kununurra)grown.

Good luck, cheers, Case

Hi Case, I do belong to The Finch Soc,I'm the fella that sends you your Magazine, I do know Tony and where to buy seed, I was just trying to find out
if any one here had a good place to buy seed.As said earlier most of our seed comes from the East and has to be treated before coming into WA,
just another of our quirky rules and big fines if you break them.

Cheers Greg.

pretty sure tony is the only one in WA that sells WA grown seed in huge quantities. i know for sure that bird place, swan valley , bird world all get there seed from eastern states which is a shame.
thanks chris
