Hi everyone,

My goulds have had young  I can hear them chirping away when mum or dad goes into the nest box.

Any special food requirements?

I have just been butting in the some lettuce types, spinach leaf, cucumber and millet spray. Usually every day now, so that mum and dad can keep up with the food demand.

Obviously i have the grit and cuttle fish too which mum and dad have been at a lot since they hatched.

But yeh anything else that may help?

Cheers
AB

I'd also suggest lots of soaked seed, as much as your birds can consume. Twice a day if possible

What everyone else said, but be very careful with lettuce. Not too much and remove any uneaten, as if it goes off it is real bad news. Congratulations. Mine are off to a good start too. 1st nest almost feathered, 2nd nest hatched. Eggs in the 3rd, and there are only 5 pair in this avairy. Nothing in the other avairy yet, but that is my pair of possible split blues.

Yes thanks for that. I hear to be weary of the lettuce.

Wow! sounds like your definitely doing well there!

This is my first attempt to breed goulds and its the parents first clutch too. So it's all pretty exciting. :D

Bad news today folks

I have had some murderers in the aviary throw out my Gouldian hatchlings. There where 4 hatchlings thrown out and 2 infertile eggs in the nest when I checked.

I have now cleaned the aviary and will just have my Goulds in their. I will clean out the nest and put it back so they can try again.

Thanks,

Andrew
