Does anybody know how to sex Chestnuts.

Sometimes people will go by bar on the chest, if they're like other Lonchura species I would think the lower mandible would be a good place to start

apart from DNA sexing, and the tips below, the males will crow as in all other munia - most of it outside the hearing range of humans. I also noet that in more mature birds the male has rather distinct "tiger stripes' along the wing edge (when tucked up) of the whte belly feathers, the female doesnt exhibit as much or any.

As with the tips above,adult cocks have a more silvery crown where as the hens crown is grey and as said above they can be sexed under bottom mandible,cocks ) and hens > Craig.
