I have a very lively active pair of Parsons who recently started adding all sorts of grasses to the nest baskets and seemed to be very close.I came home 2 nights ago and one..hen im assuming,I cannt pick them..was on the floor alll fluffed up couldnt move far or even flutter onto a perch ,although it tried franticly.I was realy upset as it seemed so sad as they were just looking like they may nest.
I took it out and no sign of diareha or anything but obvisly painful swolen abdomen .I put it straight away in a hospital cage with a lamp on it and gave some oil on beak and bottom .I didnt hold any hope and didnt put its mate in as I was sure it would die .It looked bright around the eyes and was alert but clearly in discomfort. It sat there hunched and enjoyed the light and I left it.Within a couple of hours it was eating some corn and having a drink but still wobbly .By the next morning it was so improved I put it back with its mate who was calling it constanty.
by last night it was back in perfect health and today its as active as ever.Im thinking it had to be an egg bound hen but theres no sign of any egg or even a broken egg
