Hi guys,

Just a word of warning please be extra careful when letting people come over and see your birds ect.
I had 2 pairs of blues stolen yesterday from the northern suburbs. Both in breeding cages and starting clutches. Hugely disappointing that somebody would steal these just to make some money.

Not very happy as I had these birds flew over from Melbourne and they were in top health. We breed these birds for the hobby and for the love of them not to make money... Some people in society really need to take a look at themselves!

Sorry to hear about your thefts gouldian4. I know what a sick feeling it leaves in your stomach!

There have been several finch-related thefts recently, some of the birds being quite valuable.

These scumbags need to be caught and put away...or put into concrete boots and taken for along trip off a short pier!!

Keep your chin up- hopefully the birds will be found.
There is a bird theft register which I can't access at work but hopefully someone else will give you the phone number. Give them a call and at least people can keep their eyes open for them.

When you say "northern suburbs", which city are you talking about?

Sorry again for your loss.

That's awful. It takes the fun right out of the hobby.

I have no respect for thieves or people who knowingly buy stolen birds.

Hi Gouldian4

why don't you post an add on ebay offering a reward for twice the value of the birds....as money drives these scum it might drag them in...we can only hope.

May the kama train stop at their station soon

Cheers
Paul

String believer in karma. It always comes back around!!
Just hugely disappointing that somebody would do that. I'm aware that they are worth money but that's not what I'm after. Really wanted a nice breeding stock of blues to trade and make the strain stronger.
Not going to give up just have to wait till next season.

How is every bodies season going this year any way??

Sorry to hear that. My mother had a worse version of that with her budgies about 10 years ago. Took an entire breeding family,
just took the cabinet with the pair, nest box and young. Then a bunch of spare hens as well. Some people have no decency.
Hope everything else Gouldian goes well for you.

Sorry to hear that g4. Did you inform the police? It must be quite a small pool of people, whose phone numbers you probably have, who could be responsible. I would let the police advise you.

It is a home break-in after all, with theft of at least several hundred dollars' worth of goods. Police like to know about these things and may be able to locate the birds and culprit for you. The Blue Gouldian breeding crowd is a very small one too... not many places to hide!

Hi yeah police have been informed however where not overly concerned about the birds- extremely frustrating. Will have to wait and see if they receive any information.

Oh! So sad to hear this-some people are dispicable! The police would have no idea the value let alone the fact that they are live animals and are they being treated humanely by those who have them in their possession... I hope the culprits are found and maybe be able to get your birds back.

On another note I have only have my 2 pairs of Blue/split Blues for a couple fo weeks and so far they are still settling in and no nesting activity as yet..trying to be patient :)
