My pair of Green Singers have gone to nest-a bit early for a winter breeder or will they go at anytime?

If conditions are to their liking I'm sure they will breed when they feel like it.....

Whats your set up like?

Just curious as I have a pair and the male has been singing like mad.

I think I need to put more brush in to give them a secluded spot to nest

They built thier nest in some brush-in a spot that is hard to see into the nest-need to get myself a dentist mirror.

I noticed today the hen is starting to charge at my gouldians and the cock is trying fight anyone within eyeshot.

Odd thing is he sings like mad when I enter the aviary and eyes me off.

I will add more brush asap so all my birds have a place to breed and perch.

I have three main brush deposits but could do with to extra large ones and I think ill be in business

Singers, especially males, can be extremely territorial around their nest area. If the aviary isn't relatively large or if it contains plenty of other birds, aggression can become very serious once the Singers have an active nest. Depends mostly on the temperament of the male, but I've often had to remove a few primaries from one wing of a male Singer to restore harmony in a breeding aviary.

Are there any losses with Green Singers for few day old young in the colder months?
What day after hatching do they leave the nest (if at all)?

Thanks for any reply.
