If you had a spare 3.85 long X 2.45 deep X 1.85 high aviary what would you put in it?
I am thinking goulds (3-4 pairs) and green singers (1 pair) with a pair of diamonds.
do you think my suggested combo will work out?
Thanks
El Feroz
What would you do?

Gouldians and diamonds would be ok,i had a bit of trouble with green singers and gouldians. My green singers took a dislike to them, maybe too much yellow body colour and they thought they maybe a threat to them.
Why don't you try an all aussie finch collection. Craig

It all depends on how labour intensive you're wanting it to be , and how much effort is required to maintain the aviary .
Cost is also a major factor ...
If it were my aviary I would run a pair of White Eared Masks , Diamonds , Double bars and pair of Strawberries and some BFPFs ... but the combos are endless .
Actually scrub that ... If cost were not a factor , I'd run a pair of Blue Caps on their own or a pair of WB Crimsons .
It really all comes down to what works for you and suits your availability

I have an aviary with those exact birds and it works well for me,the only thing is when the green singers are at nest the goulds become a bit to inquisitive ,but are soon moved on by the singers, the diamonds take a corner where there is brush and away they go,i think its a good combo, garyh

Never liked gouldians but they have grown on me recently.....SamDavis wrote:Does this mean final approval has been granted for a new aviary? If so congratulations. And why 3-4pr gouldians?
As you know Sam, approval is never final until the birds are in the "new" aviary or the boss is away on holiday...in which case I would be working through a very long list of jobs

Spare aviary that size? I know people who would kill for 1 that size! Me personally, I would use it for a fledgling cage so that the breeding pairs are not disturbed when trying to go for the second or third clutch. Lucky you to have a "spare" that size.

You now have at least half the forum green with envy. A spare avairy is our idea of heaven. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
