Found you! You mean the 18th picture from the top which is IMG_0006.jpg. We seem to keep missing each other at shows and sales - just maybe we'll eventually meet. And that fence did look a bit wobbly so lucky you were about.nswchainsaw wrote:Sam you took a Photo of me holding the fence up you should have said hi. pic 18

Would have to agree with Sam about the venue. I did meet him and had a talk. Got a pair of O.B's for my son. I had to meet a few different people there with other stuff and none where very happy with the change. A couple of my parrot mates had stands and they were not happy at all with the set up. A one point when you first came into the sale area, at the end of a row on your left was less then a meter between the sale tables and a big steel post which was part of a wall. Every time I tried to go through there I had to wait for ages. If it was there again I probably would not go. I only went because I had heaps of pre organises sales that made my 7 hour each way run worth my time.

Yes pintails were there. I person had two pair and these lookalike the ones in the photos. A breeding pair for $1000, make an offer and another pair which had not breed for $800 make an offer. This pair was sold when I walked out at 11.30

Great to meet Dorrigo. If anyone wants mealworms then I suspect it may be worth sending Dorrigo a PM.
The pintails were from a well known breeder up Cessnock way - I posted some pics of his setup on AFF not long ago. I'm not sure if I can mention him by name on AFF (hint: initials are JB). I was seriously considering getting a pair (plus St Helenas) from him but I'm not really ready and have other species I'd like to get going first. If anyone is interested in his pintails by all means send me a PM and I'll give you his contact details.

Thanks Sam, best thing there I was thinking was the show zebs for $28 a pair. May not have been the best for the show cage but compared to what I payed $30 for from a prominent shop in Sydney a few weeks back, they where great. Double the size of pet shop zebs. Problem was my son decided at Newcastle that he should have got 2 pair and sent his others back to a pet shop. I went looking for Hecks and did not see one.

I also went along to the sale, unfortunately don't know any faces and doubt any know mine. I had a good time I think being from Canberra the sale was generally a bit bigger than most I attend but yeah finches were down and there seemed to be a lot of mutation birds around. The pintails were nice and I would love to have space for them.Even the st helenas with them were close to the best conditioned saints I've ever seen at a sale. I find a lot of the time that saints seem to be the first birds that look a little stressed or atleast ruffled feathers but they were in perfect condition. Saw one pair of Crimsons for $260 which hadn't been sold at 12 when I left. Trade was good as well as the seed and fresh fruit. Also nice to receive some free old editions of Aviary Life magazine. I purchased a pair of cordons, a hen diamond and a hen redface. Also saw a very nice looking Galah X Cockatiel which I personally would never own but it was a good looking bird. finch wise there was Cubans, parrotfinches, cordons, pied and normal ruddies, pied and normal diamonds, ,OBs, a few nuns, yellow longtails, 1pr masks, zebs, cut throats, saints a male blue cap and more.
