Hello everyone on the Forum!

I just thought I introduce myself to this forum which has been warmly recommended to me
I sort of fell in love with finches by accident, never really having interest in any small birds whatsoever. I live in rural WA and started a small pet shop about a year ago. Customers asked for finches, so I went to a well known bird dealer here and had a look at finches. I was just amazed by the colours and variety of finches - I had no idea! I purchased some for retail and why they were guest at my shop watched them and completely fell in love with them. By that time my husband built me a nice aviary for budgies and guess what - he now had another job to do namely build me another big aviary  This aviary is now finished and the littlies that I had collected in the meantime to keep for myself are enjoying themselves in a nice big enclosure. I do have to admit I have had some teething problems and sadly lost a couple of finches in bad weather, but we have improved the aviary and so far everything seems to be ok. I have started planting some grasses and shrubs inside the aviary and hope they will grow well. The shrubby hangings that I have seen at other finch breeders are a bit of a mystery to me though and I am wondering if someone can explain to a "greenie" how to make one up.
I especially love Cuban Finches but haven't had much luck with them. Maybe a bit too iffy for a beginner.
I think you will see frequent posts by me and hope there are some sandgropers here as well prepared to help me out with advice :)
Cheers
Gaby

Welcome to the Forum from another west aussie. My cubans favourite nest is an old plastic rat ball that gets very well filled with grasses by them.
