Hmmm not at all about finches but was needing help........Ive got 2 Turk chicks out of the nest and still in down feathers bar the wings .
They would be 4 weeks old give or take a day and the parents are on eggs again , question is when do I take them out of parents cage ????
Ive seen the father feed them on the ground during the week but havent seen them eat by thenselves . One is able to sorta fly from perch to perch the other is on the ground .
Theyve been in and out of the nest up till today but now the father is guarding the entrance to the nest and the chicks are not being let back in.
We have a cold snap happening other wise I dont think Id be too worried unless I saw the father become aggressive . HELP plse....

Can you put a perch lower down so the one on the ground can get up off it?
Definately don't remove them until they are feeding independantly or parents get aggresive unless you are confident to finish feeding by hand. Not a practice I am keen on.
Maybe a cardboard box lined with an old towel on the floor for the ground bound one.
