I decided a few weeks ago to bite the bullet after having a few unsuccessful years withy diamond firetails and red brow's. So today was the day I separated the pairs from a colony set up to single pairs , I have been watching for weeks looking for pair bonding's and setting up the camera to video nest sights to see who was with whom . Finding I may have had a male extra of each species causing some grief. So fingers crossed I got it right for a change. I even caught up some young birds to put in the holding aviary while I was at it.

All the grass parrots have gone to nest, wrens building like mad so I am kind of happy for a change.

Just been a bit behind the eight ball as of late and catching up with stuff I should have done long ago. Here's to a good spring .. Pete

Pete ,
I have more juvie Diamonds if you're wanting to mix some new blood , all bred in mixed colony , they're Uncoloured and from the line i acquired from Rod in Wandi , they might just get things kick started for your 2014 season,... parent hen has been my best breeder however I lost her yesterday due to unknown reasons . They're still young and only just weened , the father has been feeding them on and off when they beg so if all goes well will be ready in a week or 2 just to make sure they're self sufficient .
Im now looking for a few youngsters also to mix with my spare cock birds , Im happy to do a straight swap for young Uncoloured if you have any available .
Cheers,
Brad

Thanks for the offer Brad. But new blood in diamonds for me will be a couple of seasons away, to many others (breeds) to deal with and not enough aviary space. But I will give you a call. Mine pretty much havnt bred from having an extra bird. One rogue bird visting nests is a pain in the behind... But I am hoping for a good crop on some other things this year to fill the holding aviary....pete
