Hi all, I picked up these yellow back at Port Macquarie on the weekend not sure on which mutation.

Both look like cocks to me. The first has to be European yellow as he has a purple breast. The 2nd would be easier to tell if we could see the birds back.

Thanks finchbreeder yeh the little bugger would not turn for me, its back is very much like the others in it as a lot of white throgh it.

The most effective way to tell is breed the White breasted to a known normal hen in a seperate avairy. And depending on what turns up the type will be obvious.

Hi there they both look like DF,if you want to poof a thing,put the w/b yellow back to a normal hen and wait and see what turn out,Rember one thing when you put Australian yellow clear back in with a DF yellow w/b you wont tell different,then if bird is carry both mutation,you have look at the off spring.(I hope this will help you)
