After some intense searching, I finally found a breeder of long tails & I have three pairs arriving in the morning! Here in the States we can only get the orange beak mutation & not the yellow beaks. Is it just me or does everyone feel like a kid on Christmas Eve when they know they're getting new birds the next day? :candy:

Good stuff

And I also get that xmas feeling every time I go to a bird sale with a wallet full of money!

Post some photos once you get them!

Yes, it's Nancy ! I only learned about the yellow beaked long tails before the trip. Having had the orange beaked ones for several years, I just never knew that they were a mutation, or that the yellows existed at all for that matter. Fell in love with them & was more determined to see if I could even locate some here. I found a breeder in North Carolina ( similar climate to mine in Texas) who has two lines of unrelated blood. I sent him some of my photos from Wyndham so he has proof that his birds are just what can be found in the wild. So, free shipping & a new friend later......I shall be the new owner of 3 pairs of long tails & the trail-blazer for starting a new 'specie's in Texas :raspberry:

Its Christmas for sure when shopping for or waiting for birds to arrive! Even though you know the colour, number of birds arriving and price you paid you can still feel the happy dance starting! Image

I just took them out of their shipping box- no one appears to be too terribly stressed out. Just love seeing those adorable yellow beaks! I noticed that my blue faced parrot finches seem to have some interest in their nest box that I gave them last weekend..........this is apparently a banner day for me.
So, Derek- why the name Gomer?? :raspberry:

Where I used to work its was a close nit small group. And instead of using the name buddy mate etc.. for each other.I started calling my mates gomer as in your best export gomer pile ( goof ball ) I am pretty easy going and liked the name as a user name when we only had 8 members at the start. I had thought about changing it as people who are a bit serious may not understand the reasoning behind it.

Anyhow this is your thread welcome again, I hoped you enjoyed your trip down under it was good to meet you.I am glad you found the link alright.

Legs felt fine the next day! I got some great pics of the Crimsons- they really are beautiful birds & I've never seen any in the States for sale. I actually tried to post a pic the other day & I got some error that it was too large of a file or something- let me see if I can play around w/ them and get them to post. Unless Gomer can figure out a way to beef up the file capacity on the website that is!
