Bunnings are selling a very small concrete mixer now which is very light and perfect size for mixing seed. From memory it was only a couple of hundred dollars

I wouldn't say that I had "problems" with Elenbee per se; it's just that under my semi-formal test conditions back in 2011-12, comparing their seed directly with other seed mixes through several trials, it did not perform that well. I'm sure things can change with the season, weather, crop and supply variables.
I called Peter Slade. Seems that his current mix emphasises Panorama and Red Dakota, and is low in Canary, so is not really suitable for my collection.
I also tried JM Produce. They are proving to be the most promising supplier so far in terms of seed mix, quality control and ease of supply. Luke was especially clear and helpful. They don't do custom mixes (except maybe bulk??) but the various pre-mixes they do offer are pretty sound. They also supply Golden Cob, which is a worthy contender.

I have been buying Elenbee Seed mixes on and off for a while now, the 20kg custom mixes are fairly good, although I found their Greens and Grains no where near as good as the original Peppers Greens and Grains. My birds don't really seem fussed on their Greens and Grains, Tonic mixes etc.
I now buy my seed mix "Avigrain Finch Blue"from the local produce store as it is cheaper and more conveniently located to where I live.
And I don't have to put up with Terese's arrogance, I have found her to be very rude to the point I no longer buy my seed from them.
On a positive note I have always found Barry to be a nice bloke to deal with.

I also was floored by Ms T's rudeness and rather loopy commercial outlook. Didn't want to mention it, but now that's it's out there! I made a purchase despite her, from Barry, who's great. My limited interactions with T were really off-putting, and her seed failed to impress, so I'd need a really good reason to go back.
In the meantime PetStock have bought out PetBiz, which means Golden Cob is available from several places near me now. Happy
. Pet Barn and Healthy Bird also have some decent clean mixes.
Worst seed of all this year? Marylands Produce. I had some older Finch Mix of theirs that smelled a bit musty and showed up with Aspergillus under black light. Maybe too old, I thought, so bought a brand new fresh bag. That also smelled musty and again Aspergillus showed under black light. Tossed the entire contents in the bin!

Never had problems at Elenbee Seed, they both treat me fine, bought a few bags last week, they sprouted fine.
The seed was nice clean and shiny. It depends on your sprouting process and ambient temp that the seed is kept in when sprouting,it will determine the outcome as well as the freshness of the seed.
