Has anyone had any luck in breeding Red Siskins.
I have recently purchased a pair, given them lots of niger, some sunflower as well as regular seed mix that I give my gouldians.
Put some but up in the corner of the aviary where it gets the morning sun, they seem keen but nothing as yet.
Any Tips?

Plenty of thistle heads & other greens, an uncrowded aviary & a choice of brush nest sites. Coconut fibre, hessian & cotton waste type nesting materials pegged up off the ground + a compatible pair both ready to breed. Those bred late last season may not be ready to breed until after xmas/new year. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply sound like good advice, I found they love endive but haven't got around to getting thistle for them, will put some more bush in the aviary too.
I may pull the Gouldians out until the New Year too.

I give mine chicory..
The pair were set to go until the hen died in some foul weather..
I guess they are not 200 a bird for nothing, if they were easy to breed then everyone would do it and they would be cheap like goulds. From what I understand it is just as hard to get them to fledge as the hens stop sitting and some toss the young.
I have a mate who had limited luck with his reds and even worse luck with his yellows so maybe the season is mucking them around.
I have found birds breeding at odd times this year and some not at all.
Good luck with them.
