Well stage one is complete. I doubt the cat will be out for a couple of nights but the fence will be there waiting for it. I've let my immediate neighbours know as the fence is right on the boundary. Any comments on the difference between "high" and "low" settings on the energiser? I haven't been game to touch the fence 
I've done it before and its one of those things you don't forget.
I have also borrowed a trail camera from work, so I might even get to so some happy snaps of the moggy getting zapped.

Initially set the electric fence unit on High.
Once the animal/s have had a few shocks and don't come near it any longer drop the unit down to the low setting. We have been doing it this way for years on the farm.
In order to test the output of the unit you could use the mother in law. In her absence I normally use a long blade of grass on the farm. Still conducts the electricity but the shock is much less. If you think the output is too low just shorten the blade of grass.

I didn't get a shot of it on the wire but hopefully this is him after being zapped.
It's the least popular cat in the street. It has been sh!ting in the neighbours garden, so every day he gets it on a garden spade on pops it on her front steps. Makes me laugh.
