Carrot weed (Cotula Australis) but there is probably better than that to feed at this time of year. Craig

Thanks Craig.

Unfortunately not much else around our area at moment, the local shire has been grass cutting and weed spraying so not willing to take any risks.
This plant is growing in our garden :)
Even the dandelions and other weeds are looking decidedly sickly with the lack of rain over the past week!

The only other thing nearby that is wild & growing well is the native violet but am unsure about that??

Will be picking up some greenery from the markets tomorrow, with new zeb babies the parents are going nuts over any greens I can find for them :)

Yep, Perth is drying out quickly.
Most of my Algerian oats are finished and the Veldt grass is almost done, so the half ripe seeds will be slim for a bit.
On the up side have heaps of crab grass germinating in the garden which if watered will provide pickings for the summer.

Cheers
Brett

Getting back to the original question; I think that the plant shown is a white form of Fumaria officinalis and not a Cotula species. It is used in herbal medicine and so probably should be offered with caution to your Zebs (cheap to replace if it proves toxic I suppose) but I wouldn't give it to your green strawbs without testing it out on Zebs for several generations.

The stuff infests my place every winter, and I pull it up and toss it by the armfull. But interestingly enough where it does invade the avairys, the birds seem very kean.
