I agree that they would be good carry boxes or freight boxes but the owness would be on the owner transferring birds in and out of them. There seems to be some sort of confusion with what is a carry box and what is a selling cage on this forum.A selling cage is not a show cage where the bird is judged in a show,it is a display cage for birds to be sold at a BIRD SALE.
The rules that the DSE and the organizers of a bird sale enforce (here in Victoria) state that "All selling cages are to solid sides and top" with one open front of wire.
We freak out down here when we go to NSW's bird sales and see open wire budgie cages and boxes with wire mesh on the top for the viewing of birds for sale and the mixed species in these cages.
I'm going out on a limb with this comment and i'm not racist but there is a lot of ethnic back ground people on this forum who have been brought up with totally different ideas to how us old bird breeders have evolved with what we had at the time and what we have now and it all works well without any problems and also keeps the authorities happy.... That's it from me. Craig

I don't know word for word the dse sale rules. But there are all wire cages still at sales in Vic.The only thing is some have either cardboard or a tea towel against the wire to over come that rule.Is this euro one used with the lid on? Only having a open front. In think for bigger birds this system would be ideal. As for finches I am scepticle. As I am with the budgie style ones.I would like more info from the seller of these before making a firm decision. As there seems to be alot of making judgement without all the info.Even with this info there will be those who choose not to buy one so don't.

If the solid roof is removed, then that is dangerous to the birds, I reckon. However, an experienced birdo would not do this. The temptation is there though for inexperienced people to "show off" the birds by removing the lid. That is what I mean by being used badly. The wire roof need not be there.I would use a mesh sliding front panel inside the perspex one.

One can use a "normal" carry cage and still abuse it. Overcrowding, filth, obstructive perches, flipping a cloth over the front too fast.

One other meagre concern I have is the solid walls. Are they opaque? Translucent? Shadows, shapes and movement could unsettle birds and cause them to feel insecure.

Nonetheless, I think the product is very much worth looking at. Where can we see one "in the flesh" so to speak?

That's true gomer, but as one of the sale stewards for the Geelong sale for many years,we were instructed to inform sellers with budgie bar style cages to cover them up or leave the sale with them.It got to the stage that we supplied tea towels to do the job but they were asked not to bring them again to the next sale, most comply but you can't please everyone.
In Europe most birds are trained to use these types of carry boxes and aren't kept in large planted aviaries like here in Australia where they feel they are not captive, the bigger the aviary the more wild they are,i've bought parrot finches from certain breeders and i might as well have sparrows in my smaller aviaries as they thashed around or just hid and wouldn't breed.Imagine putting these birds in something like these plastic cages. All that i am saying is that our way of breeding birds is totally different to most other countries because there birds are more like pets.
The main issue with budgie type barred cages is that many a bird broke their wings as they are able to put their wings through the bars and struggle to fly off when stressed.I wasn't going to say anymore but there are reasons and they are just common sense for the safety of our birds.
