Hi Cacoonkitty-green seed is harvested before it ripens on on the plant-hence when it is green.

I want to find some really nutritious Seed for m Gouldians...although they are fine now with me I think they may have been on a diet that wasn't quite 100% and of course this will change now I have them but would like to do everything I can to make them happy and healthy...along with my other birds too ( parrots and stars ) :-)

Unless there is something wrong with your birds you are wasting your money. There are plenty of people here who most likley know as much as SOME vets ( not including any avian vet) with regards to avian health especially just for a general check up. Same with vitamins etc...

Well I'm taking the Gouldians down to see Dr Marshall he is a world ronound avian vet specialising in Gouldians, my birds a juts young but have a lot of head pin feathers so wanted to see what he thought about my feeding routine and he is the ONLY persons who can get the S76 air sac mite treatment as its his product..so will be getting this as I have been advised that Gouldians can suffer from these little critters especially during the moulting season...I have shop bought products but I have to say I question there effectiveness ..such as vitamins and minerals..as they are generic for all birds and I believe that different sized birds require didn't amounts of vitamins etc etc..so want them all very healthy....I pride myself in the care I provide of my animals and despite there small size I would still like them to be seen by a very so I am happy I am delivering the correct routine....and I cannot seem to find a treatment for sale in Australia that treats airsac mites !

I am sure you will be very pleased with his advise. Enough said in this thread as it is way off topic.

The active ingredient of S76 is Ivermectin. It is widely available in Australia and used by many finch breeders.
