Hi all
Just after some input on this please.
We finally managed to get a clutch of three eggs in the nest in the cage with our pair of zebs. The male has had successful clutches before we got him so seems to know what he's doing and took to sitting on the nest, showing Penny what she was supposed to be doing, however this only really lasted a day. We left the eggs where they were for a few days thinking they may go back to sitting, however noticed one morning a rather sticky beak on the male and only 2 eggs left in the nest, no evidence of the third.
We promptly removed the other two eggs, I'm taking a stab they were probably infertile, but I guess I'm now wondering whether it could set a precedent for future clutches. Should I be at all bothered by him eating the egg or is it just a finch thing?
Thanks
Amanda

you wont know until you get another clutch...it may have been thin shelled and broke while he was in there...and he did what any finch does and thats eat a free meal..
