I have 4 new orange head green back purple breasted gouldians and I have noticed with one of the hens that she has a small bit of blue going through her chest and specked on either side of her breast. It's like a dark blue colour as well. Could she possibly be melanistic?

Does she look darker any where else?

No she's completely normal everywhere else on her body.

Looking forward to the pic. Sounds like something worth trying to develop. Or sell to someone who will if doing so does not appeal to you.

I don't think that bird is a mutation at all.IMO the blue has run down through the chest from the collar under the bill, which by the way she has more blue there than the standard hen bird.
You could try to breed that trait to get a blue breasted if you have the time and patients and if the 4 birds you bought are all related. Craig

Her head is on the darker side but nothing I havent seen in plenty of other hens. She certainly does have a blue racing stripe.
I would go with Craig's suggestion...a nice little project for you.
