If you have already donated this year dont worry about it unless you feel you need to.If you wish to share your riches before the next round pm Eorix for bank details. I believe David will ask in the new year again (February ?) If you want to donate then.We have recently outlayed for sever costs etc...and are saving for the next server fees etc...

People,
What the hell is going on here? I make a substantial donation( and I mean substantial) every year, and will continue to do so. Be it 5,10 20 or whatever dollars makes no difference to me, as long as the forum is supported by most or some of the members. Because of the anonimity of the "handles" each member chooses to go by it is painfully obvious to see after a while that a fair few are young people just starting out and still at school but just learning about this hobby and can't afford to make a donation. Sure, I breed birds just for the fun and like the hobby that I let go 30 odd years ago. My take this year is 20 or so stars, 50-60 goulds and 20 or so painteds. It is not a money making business, just covers the seed, supplement, medications, not to mention the time. It makes no difference if your name is Packer, Rhinehart, Sheik whatever, Smith/Jones, EOrix, Wildbill or whatever, because what you have is no one else's business. I spend more on fishing gear each year than my birds, rods, $400 each, reels up to $700. I would like to think that all members when the donation time comes around early next year will donate but that is Utopia. Some can afford, some can't and some won't. Thats life.
My bottom line is that this is a forum where people of like minds come together to share our experiences and seek advice. Let's keep it this way and not be bound by the almighty dollar.
Wildbill, throw $200 in the pool and be done with it. There a a few like minded people who do the same, if not more yearly but choose to remain anonymous.
Suggest mods close this post and link to the "donations" because I can't see it getting any better.
Ken.

Ok this has run it's race, it's time to put it to bed.
Currently we are fine we don't owe anyone any money, we have at least 2 Server payments in the bank.
We run the Forum as a Forum not a venue to stash money.
Each year around Feb. I ask for donations and each year so far we have had generous donors. At times (in my opinion) too generous but
Every dollar is welcome. I should point out each donation has been receipted so we have a record from the very first request.
For those interested number 1 was Harvey 11 followed by Jusdeb on the 27/1/12
The only time I would think we would need to request donations out of the normal time is if we had a major IT problem and we needed to pay for
an expert.
We could have adds but at this stage( in my opinion) I am sure Admin would prefer not to do that.
So keep you money in your pocket and please don't try and push anyone into donating if they do not wish to.
NOW WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR OUR FORUM, a simple request, right and article for the Forum Newsletter, even interesting snippets
help fill the pages for Di. I do not care if you are rich or poor you can still put words on an email and send them to Di or write it out and send it.
No matter how she gets the words as long as she gets them.
It doesn't need to be A1 quality, even a short report on the first auction held by the Sydney Finch Club, what birds sold etc etc.
Sam you want me to visit and the Forum wants your help and report
Lets just enjoy the Forum
