Well maybe not a better mouse trap but a sterling way to be able to have mouse baits in the aviary without the worry of bait crumbs coming away from the bait station and into the aviary ..
OK well I'm not going out to the back verandah to get a photo now so picture this ....
a 3 chamber metal long thingy with a lid ...with me so far ?
Ok in to a small hole the mouse goes into chamber 1 which holds sand , into chamber 2 he goes which holds the bait now he has a choice to get out via chamber 1 with the sand or chamber 3 which also has sand so that either way the sand is going to brush off any bait crumbs before mousey hits the aviary .
Anyhoo I have been loaned 2 of these whatsits to try out , fella that makes them reckons they work a treat in his very many aviaries .
Ill post a pic tomorrow if any one is keen to see them ....thats all.
a better mouse trap ?

Ive seen loads of bits of plumbing pipe just sitting in the shed doing nothing that might just do for a little project like this.

These triple mouse boxes have been around a long time, I still don't trust them, all it takes is a mouse to run outside with a piece & drop it or the birds still can eat there dropping, I have seen very green dropping from mice, so a bird could eat them.

A friend of mine in Holland just posted this link.
Thought it worth while passing on. After all, it is, you are Australian.

Very clever. I've never seen it before! Maybe less effective under non-plague conditions (???)

Ive seen a variation of the plastic bottle, same set up only with a tin. I can remember those plagues of mice,a friend lives in Wild Horse Plains area and she said opening the front door during the mouse plague she was faced with her screen door covered in mice top to bottom! I did ask if she had a photo of that and she said.....
"A photo? , You must be kidding! I just screamed, slammed the door shut before any mice made it inside and waited for someone to get the mice off the screen door!"
