I have a lot of old bird seed for under my suspended aviary mixed with grit. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was ok to mix it with much and use it on the garden. Its been wet and doesn't sprout.
Thanks

Grain gets pretty hot when its wet in a heap. Piles of wheat will scorch the ground and stop anything from growing for a little while. Should be alright if its not to thick and it is mostly husk.

Straight in the compost heap. With all the bird droppings it does OK. Spread over the garden after a couple of weeks and you will find all sorts of self sown seeds coming up, plus tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins, chillies all from the kitchen. Designate an area just for the compost from your cages and you may be pleasantly surprised! Otherwise grab it all, bag it up and go and spread it on some vacant land nearby that only you know about. Green seed in a little over a month if conditions are right.
