Just googled and looked at them. Did not even know they existed, stunning birds, their own family genus too boot! Is that pair here in Oz? 50k? Worth more than my u beaut car. If they are here surely the gene pool must be pretty shallow. Good lookers though for those with hook tendancies.

They are one of the more difficult species to get established.
They have been around for a while but haven't really got going yet.
Unlike in years gone by, there aren't too many people willing to pay that sort of money for birds any more.

"Son of NEBRS" and associated goings on, the fiscal crisis, etc, created a fair bit of uncertainty in the 'industry'Myzomela wrote: there aren't too many people willing to pay that sort of money for birds any more.

Either someone had lots of spare cash OR it was a dodgy ad. One well known wealthy collector in NSW was apparently on the lookout for something different- perhaps it was him?
