Please I.D this slow moult bird
I bought a "split blue hen" a month ago and recently noticed that she has one adult feather on her back which is BLUE! So now I don't know what to think & the silly thing is taking its sweet time moulting. Please tell me what sex & colour you guys think it is. Also, I was given the male as he has less than half a leg on one side so what's the chance he'll ever breed?

Regardless of how much you would like your bird to speed up her moult, they will take their own sweet time about it, and as the weather is now colder they may stay like that till some warmer weather arrives.
Ive had young that hatch out later in the year stay half moulted till the following season.

Yeah, I know she's going to take forever
Why is her only adult back feather blue though? It's the exact same colour as the boy's back feathers. Even though they mate in the nest, he still has to balance & touch cloacas. How's he going to manage that? I'm keeping them inside in one of those small flight cages cause the male wouldn't handle another winter outside. Do I need other pairs near them to encourage them to breed or will they do it just as well alone? I have a normal pair in another cage next to them hoping to encourage them but no interest from anyone & the normals just went into moult
