New gouldian aviary. Euro or australian yellows?

Hi all

I'm just setting up a new aviary and I wanted to put in a mix of different gouldians. I know they can cross breed so I will keep the pairs separate before introducing into the aviary

I wanted peoples opinions as to which yellow gouldians are best for an aviary in north west Sydney (baulkham hills) I know there is European and australian yellows but want to know what people think is the best option?

Also the aviary is 1.5m x1.5m How many pairs do you think is suitable for an aviary of that size?

Does anyone know any good breeders in my area of good quality aviary bred gouldians?

One of my avairys is 2 x 2 approx and is full with 4 pairs. I have three breeding avairys and found that putting one type in each avairy that works best in case they decide they prefer a different partner to the one you chose for them. Just cause we people think they have bonded does not mean they will not change their minds. When you have 5 posts up you will be able to see the Classifieds and find Gouldian breeders in your area. Or advertise your wants.

Agree FB but 4prs in that size aviary is a bit to much,2prs would be better.Remember to have a holding cage as well to place young in other wise your aviary will burst at the seams with the population explosion.
Also,imo breed our own mutation,Australian yellow backs as they are being left behind with the multitude of European yellows being bred and crossed with AY's

An advantage of Euro yellow is that there are no splits (normal looking birds carrying hidden mutant genes).

with australian vs euro yellows are either of them hardier then the other? it gets fresh where i live. wouldnt say freezing but still gets cold so want to ensure i give myself the best chance of making it work

Both are as hardy as each other,but in saying that cold draughts and wet floors will knock any gouldians off the perch,they need to have access to the early morning sun by having their aviary facing East to North/east.
