There used to be a time when members used the pricelist and "public" prices were a tad up. This encouraged people to be a member and buy from members. Do any clubs encourage this these days? It seems to be part of what a club is about - helping each other. I consider forums as forms of clubs too, I suppose :purplex:

I honestly don't understand why there can't be a uniform approach to regulations / pricing etc across the country. Makes everything more difficult than it needs to be. WA is a particular pain in the backside with regards to aviculture..

The Finch Society of WA does a price list each year, it is available on our website. I did raise uniform regulations at the 2014 AGM of National Finch & Softbill Association & was surprised at TOTAL lack of interest

Very well said arthur but it is well known that the NFSA doesn't want to stand on anyones toes being a relatively new association. All States have been and should be doing their own price list yearly with input from their own club members.
The ASA is one of the last clubs to put up a price list during the year,October i think and when i was involved we had currant lists from all over the country to help evaluate bird prices for Victoria if there was not enough in put from members.
You get damd if you do or damd if you don't and a lot of members can get very angry if you down price birds that they breed even though they don't submit a suggested price.
All bird price lists are just that, suggested price not a fixed price bible, you can charge what ever you like if you think your birds are far more superior than the norm or visversa. Cheers Craig

The only price list I can find for SA is from the UBSSA, and that was last updated in 2012. That being said though, i'm not in any clubs/associations (reason being I have no idea what club to join).

Try the Finch Society of Australia or Queensland Finch Society. Craig

I was more concerned with the lack of interest in uniform regs. rather than the price guide

Don't know much about NFSA but the only people who can afford to be complacent about the regs. would be from SA & NSW

Price differs a lot state to state, for NSW i usually use the QLD price guide but as finch breeders, they are your birds, you name the price as long as it is reasonable and ensures that you will be able to sell them, I've seen some people advertising birds such as Cubans for $140a pair (no way i would pay that) in SA whereas in NSW the average price is around $50-65 a pair, this just goes to show the huge price differentiation over different states.
