Welcome to the forum. I have Bengos and Zebs plus others, they go well together and are easy to breed. And it's even more fun when you start to select for types like you can with budgies. But as Mum is a budgie breeder, you are right they are not compatible. For insperation read Aussie-Bengos posts on Bengos.

Hi Matt, I'm relatively new to the Forum and happy to help. I'm nearby in Jimboomba. I started with Zebs and Bangalese as well. A friend told me that if I managed those well then I could try progressing to some of the more expensive breeds. I survived several years with them and my only advice is the more breeding boxes you have then the more birds you will get
Good luck.

Hi all,
Well the six bangalese finches I bought from my local have fit in well. I got them last Wednesday and within the day managed to break n enter the zebs nests curious yet cautious of the 20 other inhabitants. They hang around together and fit in well. Im really enjoying the society birds. Unsure what sexes I was getting, I realised the male seems to attract his fancy with a nice song. (Easy for some)
So I think I got 2 boys 4 girls. All swell in the cage scuse the pun wish I could say the same for seed prices but hey gotta feel for to farmer's out there.
