HI all,

This has for a long time been my favourite colour and type of canary.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what he is?

Please note he is alive despite his appearance in the last photo where he looks like road kill. He does that after I catch him usually.

He is a green based red factor, in colour. But I will leave the type to someone a little better at it. Some birds will do that "roadkill" freeze when caught, as long as they are not otherwise distressed it's fine. The concern is those that go into shivers or fits.

Yeh I had one that once exploded when handled. Blood shot out its mouth and eyes. Not pleasant. This guy just does the pancake.

Not sure what it is, but I am pretty sure that it is not a Lizard.

The head feathers would be different on a Lizard, and although there are rows of black feathers on the back, they are not the spangled feathers of a Lizard.

Yep, according to my "coloured canaries" book, its a male dimorphic (mosaic) bronze.
