Hi, I have a pair of red Parrot finches in my aviary they just chase each other all day, never bred suppose to be a pair. I bought a mixture of birds from a fellow selling off his birds. There was a male Red Parrot finch amongst them I have not put him in the aviary as I always thought they would fight or both chase the female. A friend who has an aviary said they would be okay as it is a big aviary. What do you think I don't think it is a good idea. I am looking for a female and then will put them both in. Thanks for your advice.

Are you positive the pair in there are a "pair" males will chase males...I have 2 males and a hen in same aviary, 2 have paired up and are sitting at this moment on eggs...no real aggression shown anywhere...oh they are in with Strawberries and Tri-Coloureds (kept Tris and RFPF for years with no hybrids at anytime) as well as Gouldians and RC Cordons...all are fine together

Hi, It took me a long time to get a pair of compatable rfpf and now they don't stop breeding. Try putting the 3 into a small cage and see
if any two show an interest in each other, if yes put them back into the aviary and the 3rd elsewhere.
You could have them DNA tested, the cost would soon be recouped by them breeding.

Cheers Greg
