Hi Guys
Blujays hubby here.
We had an extremely hot day here it reached 47 degrees.
We lost some birds which has made my wife very sad.
I am sure we all lose birds its just the nature of breeding.
She is very passionate and loves her birds very much.
The birds love her too and are eager to see her when she goes to feed and water them.
We have some very tame birds as she hand raised many of them.
She thinks so much of you guys and how supportive you all are.
Ultimately we all are responsible for our own decisions be them bad or good.
So as Harry S. Truman says "The Buck Stops Here"
Thank you all for being there for her.
Cheers

Sorry to hear Blujay. It happened to me a few years ago when it got to 46C, and I was at work, and I lost 14 canaries that were all on the top row of cabinets.

It got to 44C in Penrith today, but the maximum in my garage where I keep my birds was 40C.

I feel so very much for your losses. Please take care. We can only do our best in these extreme climate times.I suppose advice is fine but you know your place and you know your birds. Best wishes, Bluejay....

Bless all your hearts, thank you for your kind words and support. If any of you lost any birds in this heat wave, I'm sorry for you also. As you know I can relate. What I think bothers me the most is I am entrusted with the care of these birds, and I failed to protect them. Any way I am thankful for the birds still with me. I am thankful none of the chicks in nest expired, I am thankful none of the hens abandoned their chicks, or nest. Though one hen expired, leaving a clutch of six eggs. So from what I had read here, I used a spoon and split the eggs between three hens.
thank you all. Kind Regards.

Such a shame and even though Im sure you did everything you could it doesnt make you feel any better when things like this happen.
I feel for you.

Thank you Diane. I truly mean that. I don't name all my birds, but I know each and everyone of them. My approach is: I feed you, I medicate you, I clean up after you, I'm damn well am going to enjoy looking at you. Some how I remove the fear of the human approach and hand, and the birds and I are Harmonious. KindestRegards

Sounds like everyone busted their behinds to keep their birds comfortable and cool. Good going everyone. And lots of good suggestions for others on how to cool their birds down.
