The bird is white and Tom I didn't make myself clear, the (hybrid)was not bred in that aviary.

Yes, I fully understand that, Jack. I wondered if this "white" bird is IN the aviary we saw the hybrid in.
If so, it may well be a Hecks blackheart cross, white mutation nonetheless. That aviary had just such a mixed pairing in it.

I think I went off topic because of my concern about the mixed pairings in that aviary: red to yellow-beak and hybrid to yellow-beak. Iwould hope your friend might separate these pairs.
Sorry about confusing the issue.
I too think it is a white longtail mutation but also think it is a Hecks/blackheart hybrid from that aviary.

Cheers

Tom i don't believe it's a hybrid as such, maybe inter subspecie as it has a longtail tail not a short black throat tail. Craig

Sorry, Craig. You're right re interspecies. I was talking about inter subspecies hybrids, like crossing masked with white-eared masked or black-rump db with white-rump.
My use of the term hybrid is not the one used normally by breeders. Sorry to confuse (again!) :)
Beautiful bird !!!!

If it retains some pigment in the bib- which is usually black, not brown, then surely it can't be an albino ? Just asking.
