Does anybody really know what peering is all about? It is one of the weirdest and even quite spooky bird behaviour that I've seen. Explanations I've read don't sound too convincing or plausible - maybe some AFF members have ideas about what is going on there.

When another bird (usually a male from my observations & usually not fully mature) stares and slowly gets so close to another crowing male that it almost touches bills. Very common in Stars & most munias. It appears as if it is in a trance from the song and needs to get as close as possible to its source.
