Been a while since I posted any bird pics, and I just recommisioned my camera.
Work is looking pretty mellow today, so hopefully I will have time to crop and resize a few.
Fledged my first ever fairy wren last week and had three baby bloods jump out which was good news.
On a less positive note, I finally dealt with the brown snake who had been intermittently visiting my big aviaries
after I found him eating diamond nestlings yesterday morning. Perhaps explains why there have been very few young out of that aviary over recent months, since the strawbs finished in August, in fact.

Thankfully he didn't eat the chats which are in the same aviary.

Wow! You sure should be pleased with yourself Matty. You have some beautiful birds, and have gotten chicks out of them. Good on you. Sorry to hear about you brown snake issue. Since it was eating your birds, I hope you made it eat shovel!!!!
You commissioned your camera well too, made my Tim Tam Slams taste even better! Kind Regards

Nice MM.

Are you colour feeding the chats? What are you feeding them on?

Cheers Ian

Chats are on liveys including moths, mealies, crickets, termites, maggots, depending what is on.
They get some wild nectar and occasional nectar mix.
To my surprise, they seem to like picking at corn, and pick through green seeding heads, though they seem to be getting microscopic bugs rather than eating green seed.

They were more of a brick orange when I got them and they have both improved greatly in colour over a few months.

Those redbrows are wild, as are the scarlet robins below.
If anyone knows anyone with scarlet or flame robins that they are breeding, please let me know.
