How does QFS judge if there is no common benchmark?

At Wollongong Finch Club we have a table show where everyone present votes to determine the winners. Although this generally works fine it can result in some strange winners.

They just have a judge who makes a decision.
They talked about introducing a standard a few years ago & I don't think it got to 1st base.

The Finch Exhibiter Society has a Standard for all Australian Finches since 2008 Written and drawn , at the moment they are revising some of the drawings .
