Two questions re live food:

I've been looking to get some mealies (for Crimsons and TCPF) and was wondering whether anyone had advice regarding whether mini mealworms would be better than the standard size mealworms?

After having fresh maggots sent up from Victoria a few years ago (and living with the unhappiness of The Wife), the Frogs Arcade now sells (snap) frozen maggots (1 kg - 3.5kg blocks) delivered in special boxes for posting. Does anyone use frozen maggots or have any advice/experience regarding frozen maggots?

Thanks in advance.

Clawd.

I find my crimsons prefer regular mealworms over any other live food (excluding termites). As for the frozen maggots I found when I tried to freeze them it was unsuccessful. Gerry may have perfected this as he trialled it long ago now. I know you can get shaker trays/dish to vibrate frozen food so it appears alive, this could be a option ?

The frozen maggots work great for aquarium fish etc as they defrost in the water and the fish eat them straight away,no time to spoil. They dehydrate and turn black very quickly when fed out to finches so you can't have them on tap so to speak for your birds like you can being alive.
With the birds you have, mini or normal meal worms will work fine but don't over feed as your tcpf will become obese and wont breed. Craig
